Abstract

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma(MEC) is one of the most common salivary gland malignancies. MEC mainly occurs in the parotid gland, along with minor salivary glands being the second common site, particularly palate. Malignancy of salivary glands is rare and comprises less than 3% of head and neck cancers. Mucoepidermpoiod carcinoma occurs most frequently between 3rd to 6th decades of life and affects women more often than men, in the ratio of 3:2. This case report highlights the need for the proper diagnosis and treatment plan in cases of mucoepidermoid carcinoma as it can lead to morbidity and mortality.
